The Veterinary Medicine Association has recently started changing
their protocols for vaccinations in dogs and cats based on years of studies. These studies have now conclusively provien
that annual vaccinations are not only not neccesary because most vaccines provide the antibodies for many years...but
they are also extremely harmful to our pets' lives!!!
Yandisa Ridgebacks are given a minimum of vaccines and the
first shots are not given until the puppies are at least 8 weeks of age. They are given a two-way combination
of parvo and distemper only at 8 weeks prior to you taking your puppy home. This two-way shot is provided to the new
home for the second dose not to be administered before 11 - 12 weeks. A third shot is optional at 16 weeks.
We are currently utilizing Intervet high-titer vaccines. They are not given a rabies shot until at least 6 months
old to comply with the law. Tests are being conducted that are proving rabies vaccines provide immunity for up to 13
years, but until the laws are changed, we will have to vaccinate every three years if we choose to comply with the law.
It is important that you educate yourself fully about vaccinating your pets because you really cannot trust that
your vet has done his research. 20% of a veterinarian's practice income is from vaccinations...so remember this
is a monetary issue for them.
