Lure Coursing is a terrific sport and the drive  to chase the lure comes innately to "most" Ridgebacks, but not all.

I am proud to say that most of the puppies bred by Yandisa have been keenly interested in lure coursing.  If you go to Disa's page, you can see where they might have gotten this drive honestly!

There is a wealth of information on lure coursing available on the web and I am strongly advising that you do your homework  BEFORE putting your Ridgeback in harms way.  Lure coursing is more physcially challenging than most novices realize and learning the hard way is not fair to your dog.

I would also strongly urge you to ensure KNOWLEDGEABLE people are available to monitor any practice runs you are taking advantage of.  Anyone can buy the equipment, but they don't necessarily know the proper and safe ways of operating it, let alone how to keep your dog or puppy safe.

Please utilize the links below to ensure your dog is ready for lure coursing and to know what to expect at a trial.

Accidents on the field do happen.  See the photos below of a collision between two running mates on the field.  Thankfully, neither of the dogs were injured.
