" Disa"
was born in South Africa, bred by Anne Downhams (Nyaka Kennels in SA) and Debbie Van Akin (Cartouche Kennels
in SA).
Her sire, Kimani's Heir To The Throne, was exported
to SA after obtaining his US AKC Championship. Her dam, Cartouche Unyana, was bred by Debbie and Richard Van Aken from
South Africa and carries the bloodlines of some of the original Ridgebacks in their native country.
Disa obtained her Conformation Championship (CH)
in May, 2000 prior to her 2nd birthday. She achieved her AKC Field Championship (FCH) title in only four trials by November,
2000 making her a Dual Champion (DC). She achieved her ASFA Lure Coursing Field Championship and Herding Instinct Certificate
in 2001. In January, 2002, Disa was awarded her AKC Canine Good Citizen Title (CGC). She achieved
the title of Register of Merit (ROM) in 2005, which means she had a minimum of 5 puppies who achieved their AKC Championship,
thanks to the help of the Demerys (they finished 5 of the 7 AKC Champion puppies) and the Hartleys for making number
5! There were 3 who finished from the DisaxHawkeye litter and 4 from the DisaxPierce litter.

Lure Coursing - Disa was a tough competitor on the lure coursing field.
The pictures below were taken by the photographer in the middle of the field at a lure coursing trial. They were taken
as a sequence after one of the three Ridebacks running with Disa in this course cut across the field and crashed into
her. As you can see, her tenacity and drive to chase "the bunny" kept her from going down. In fact, she is turning
her body in mid-air to continue chasing the "bunnies." In this same course, the third Ridgeback also running
the course subsequently ran into her as well...once again she never went down. Talk about tenacity!!!!

Disa had three (LARGE) beautiful litters a and helped raise her one litter
of grandpuppies (pictured below). I am so proud of the wonderful temperaments of all her puppies. Disa
had such a great sense of humor with whatever event she was involved in, whether sheep herding, lure coursing, obedience,
